CK Gallery
Portraits
by John Fries
Eight years ago Christy K. Forrest launched CK Gallery Portraits,
a home-based professional photography studio that specializes in capturing
the magic and innocence of childhood memories. Forrest's repertoire
also includes high school senior portraits, families and children
of all ages.
This past April, she outgrew her home-based studio and moved into
a larger commercial storefront on West Valleybrook Road, adjacent
to the former Sue Richards Dance Studio (now Kickline).
Upon entering CK Gallery's reception area, one can't help but be impressed
with the quality of portraiture on display. Forrest refers to her
work as "creating timeless images."
The portraits that line the walls of her studio are stunningly displayed
in high quality frames and mattes, all of which are available to her
clients. Her gallery of portraits is an equal mix of color, black
and white, and nostalgic sepia-toned prints.
Her most proud accomplishment has been winning the hearts of her many
clients by creating unique and timeless portraits that literally capture
the heart and soul of her subjects. A portrait session with Forrest
is truly an enjoyable one-of-a-kind experience that will be remembered
for a lifetime. Her exceptional, God-given talent for seeing the beauty
in every individual who steps before her camera has deemed her more
than a mere photographer, but a true photographic artist.
Forrest stays on the cutting edge of portraiture by studying with
some of the country's most respected photographers. "I've attended
seminars all over the United States," she said. "This gives me the
opportunity to be among the first in this area offering state-of-the-art
photographic techniques."
Forrest's unique style of portraiture is appreciated throughout the
community and is on display in several local businesses, doctors'
offices and children's boutiques. A key to her success is the rapport
she establishes with her subjects. When a parent schedules a portrait
session, Forrest will set aside adequate time to get to know the child
and help him or her feel at ease in order to capture the child's unique
personality.
Forrest is a native of Upper St. Clair and is an active member of
Triangle Photographers Association. She invites anyone interested
in having a portrait made to visit her studio or contact her to check
availability. An informational brochure is also available by contacting
CK Gallery. Portrait sessions are by appointment only.
Forrest considers it a privilege to do what she does, and brings her
fresh outlook and positive demeanor to each session. CK Gallery Portraits
